This video was previously titled 'My Pyramid K-2.' It has been revised to reflect the adoption of the USDA approved 'MyPlate.' What makes up a healthy plate? Drawing on prior knowledge our young nutritionist leads kids on an exploration of nutritious foods, healthy activities and appropriate serving sizes. They'll learn to classify and compare foods by nutritional value and food group. Label reading skills are introduced so after viewing, students will be 'certified hidden fat and sugar detectives.' Then, using the new USDA food guide, MyPlate, students will prepare example meals and snacks. They will also practice making healthy choices when dining out.
